I'm not ageist….therefore I mention no age

What is it about public transport, especially buses, that attracts a certain type of person? (Notice I didn’t say young person)

I had to travel into the city today by bus rather than cycle, so on the regular bus service I get. Everything is fine for the first ten minutes of the journey then this chap gets on (again notice that I’m not being ageist) and sits in the seat opposite me.

We all know buses ask that you don’t drink alcohol on them so this gentleman immediately opens up a can of Special Brew and begins to drink rather thirstily, ending it off with a bus quietening belch to confirm his satisfaction at the drink.

He then decides that after silencing us all with his belch he will find some inane music on his mobile phone to entertain us all.

By this time, thankfully, it is almost at my stop so I don’t have to endure this persons boorish behaviour anymore but I imagine he carried on entertaining the rest of the bus all the way into the city.

How drivers of buses cope with these people is one to ponder as his duty is to the safety and well being of all passengers. It’s a shame they ever got rid of conductors on buses as I’m sure this sort of behaviour by a certain minority of society would be for the most part curbed.

BTW, the chap wasn’t that young
