Butternut Squash

I tried a new ingredient in my cooking today, as the title suggests, I tried a butternut squash. I kept seeing them in my local supermarket and picked one up today just to see what they taste like. After some surfing around on recipe and cooking websites, I decided I would try it in a casserole. I think in the end I overcooked it all a little bit, with the squash fairing worst among everything I chucked in the casserole dish. It turned out pretty bland yet reading the food websites it should have provided it’s own flavours. Still, I will try again for sure, perhaps I’ll roast it next time.

The rest of my day has been much the same as any other Thursday, I signed on, did a bit of shopping and was back indoors in the warm by mid-morning. A friend and neighbour who often calls round for a cup of tea and a chat called in just after lunch and we chewed the fat for a couple of hours. We both volunteer at the same shop so there is always plenty to talk about.

Much like the evening meal, today was pretty bland. Hoping for better things tomorrow!
