I see two dragons,
standing off each other,
ready for the final conflict,
drawing their penultimate breath,
with only one drawing a final,
battle lines drawn,
defences ready,
the battle ensues, a victor crowned.

I see two stags,
squaring up to each other,
fighting for the right to breed,
the right to pass on his bloodline,
antlers clash in the early morning,
mist stirred by the beasts,
steam rising off their coats,
the battle ensues, a victor breeds.

I see two hearts,
pulsing blood through veins,
pumping life through bodies,
bringing vital supplies,
taking life to all points,
removing waste,
killing diseases,
the battle ensues, the body survives another day.

I see two children,
skipping along joyfully,
laughter in their eyes,
smiles reaching broadly across beaming faces,
bodies full of mischief,
minds thinking quickly,
who will they tease next?
No battle here, the joy of life for all to see.
